![]() When I drive through our ‘Gate of Opportunity’, the entrance into the iThemba campus, it fills me with joy to know that there are now a total of 22 children who have been embraced by iThemba. Every child who is welcomed on our campus is significant. All have endured so much in their young lives and now have the opportunity to unravel and feel the love of new parents and the power of the family unit. So you can imagine our thanks and celebration when just this past month we were able to open our fourth home, Jacob House. Six more lives have experienced positive change due to the overwhelming support and generosity of the Victor Daitz Foundation and the Micah 6:8 Foundation. Please would you visit our updated website: www.focusonithemba.org for more information on our iThemba children. The potential of our campus is immense. |
The Master Plan outlines the
proposed potential (see below) and
provides motivation to strive to meet
this ultimate vision. With this in mind,
Judy and I embarked on a donor trip to
the USA in October. Despite the current
economic challenges it is staggering to
note the generosity and care that others
have for our country and our children.
It was a great privilege for us to thank
our friends personally for what they
have helped us do, and to share with
them some of the latest achievements of our iThemba families. Chris Nel visited
the United Kingdom and wonderful relationships are being formed with new friends in London. There is always a buzz on campus with visitors, new friends and the positive energy of our parents and children filling the air. There is progress every day, from a new tree being planted to a wall being painted. What strikes me is our strong passionate team, and the commitment and courage of our parents who are always going the extra mile to make iThemba the special place that it is. There are so many people to thank for their contribution throughout 2008. Without their personal support not much would be happening here on the |
campus. Our Highway community as a
whole have been remarkable in terms of their generous spirit. Many are giving of their time and talents - too many to mention. Our special thanks is extended to Kearsney College, the Hillcrest Christian Academy and St Mary’s DSG who have been so willing to assist our children in various ways, from community projects, to swimming lessons and more. Thank you to our donors and volunteers for their commitment to iThemba. Without this continued support we would not have been able to accomplish what we have in such a short time span. Our gratitude goes out to our friends at Friends of iThemba based in the USA for their constant source of support and strength. We hope that in 2009 we will together expand this circle. Lastly I would like to thank our TEAM - the parents, teachers, staff and the iThemba children. It is through you that we are here today. I wish you and your families a peaceful festive season and I hope to see you soon on our busy campus. May God Bless you all! Sincerely
