Focus on iThemba staff and families extend their sincere thanks to Paddy Collins for running the Comrades Marathon on 24 May 2009 to support the non-profit organisation.
“Congratulations and thank you Paddy for not only running the race but for completing it in your best time yet, 8hrs 30 minutes…wow, what a run!” said Nadine Wright, Donor Relations Manager. “An amount of R6640.50 has been raised so far, with additional donations still coming in from the big run. We also wish to thank Highbury Preparatory School profusely for promoting this sponsorship through their staff and parents. Without the support of our community and big hearted people, iThemba would not be able to sustain their vision of bringing hope to vulnerable children.”
iThemba, based in Hillcrest, is a non-profit, public benefit organisation that provides innovative quality cluster foster care homes for orphans. Each of the four homes is headed by a loving, married couple who care for up to six children. Through strong family care and holistic education, these children will become adults with strong values and leadership qualities. It is the hope of iThemba to nurture the potential in each individual and teach them how to plough back into their community and country.
“We are currently raising funds for our fifth home, Anna House, which we hope to open this year,” explained Nadine. “There are plans to expand the iThemba Academy, based on our 40 acre campus, in the near future. The school is a private primary school offering excellence in education for children from the Hillcrest community as well as for our foster children. We would be delighted to have you visit our campus, or visit our website: www.focusonithemba.org,” she concluded
