Kearsney boys make an impact

The 40 acre Focus on iThemba estate in Hillcrest is a large property in need of continuous maintenance. On 18 and 19 May as part of their outreach pro¬gramme over 40 Kearsney College pupils put their hands together and made a significant impact by working in the extensive grounds.

Moving old branches, raking leaves, clearing overgrown and alien plant areas were all part of their morning’s achievements.

Gavin Kruger, Family Services Manager at Focus on iThemba, speaks to the Kearsney College boys after their hard work
and thanks them for their commitment to the children
of iThemba and the community.

iThemba offers quality care to vulnerable children in the form of foster homes, education and a solid foundation of love to grow from. To date two iThemba children, thanks to bursaries, are benefiting from the excellent education that Kearsney offers.

Overall the boys enjoyed the experience and commented that it gave them a sense of fulfillment to give back to the community and felt that they had achieved something worthwhile for the day.

“The relationship between iThemba and Kearsney has extended over the past three years,” explained Gavin Kruger, Family Services Manager at iThemba. “We are extremely grateful for their commitment, enthusiasm and support.”
