Bead Beautiful supports vulnerable children
Bead Beautiful Accessories together with Focus on iThemba launched a new range of accessories, entitled ‘NECKANDI’, on Friday June 4. Celebrating their ninth year in business, Bead Beautiful Accessories selected iThemba as its beneficiary and donated 10% of all sales on the night.


Gardening for the future

A deep investment in the youth and future generations is a key philosophy at Focus on iThemba. Mirroring this sentiment were a group of motivated Aurecon employees and their friends who came together on 22 May to plant a fruit and vegetable garden on the iThemba campus in Hillcrest.

Kearsney boys make an impact

The 40 acre Focus on iThemba estate in Hillcrest is a large property in need of continuous maintenance. On 18 and 19 May as part of their outreach pro¬gramme over 40 Kearsney College pupils put their hands together and made a significant impact by working in the extensive grounds.


Renewal for the Joseph House

A family with a difference has much to be grateful for after a generous donation of R40 000 from the IQRAA Trust (South Africa) contributed towards renovations to their home.

Rotary donates Easter eggs to iThemba

The iThemba children and students at the iThemba Academy were treated to a generous donation of 500 Easter eggs from the Inchanga Rotary (1000 Hills) on 12 April. Award winning actress, Val Bell, on behalf of Rotary handed over the donation at the school and relayed the story of Easter to the children.

Primi treats iThemba to lunch
Chris Ducler, owner of the Primi Polo in Hillcrest, generously invited the four iThemba families to a lunch at his restaurant on Saturday 10 April.

Novel Technology Day cracks many smiles
‘Safe egg travel’ was the unusual challenge for iThemba Academy learners during their ‘Technology for All’ morning which took place on 16 March. The project was intended to develop mechanical concepts and introduce learners to design thinking.

Lewis Group Bursaries change lives
Ten fortunate children excitedly wore a new school uniform at the beginning of the year thanks to generous support from the Lewis Group who provided learners with bursaries. The children are now proudly attending the iThemba Academy in Hillcrest, an innovative primary school.

Waterfall College to move to iThemba campus

An exciting move is planned for co-educational senior school Waterfall College in March. After detailed strategy sessions a decision was made for the dynamic independent school to move from its current premises in Waterfall to the lush 40 acre Focus on iThemba campus in Hillcrest.

Medical professionals are vital to everyday society in ensuring the health and well-being of our communities. Many of these professionals have a strong correlation to the arts and 21 exhibitors recently showcased their hobby through the 'Doctors in Art' exhibition held at Kearsney College.

Natural Sportsman Shines
David Zondi, 14, is a young man to watch. His natural sporting abilities are quite phenomenal. His school sports' coaches at the Hillcrest Christian Academy have noticed his talents and he has been selected for the 1st teams in cricket, rugby, soccer and hockey. He was first in his age group in cross country and was selected for the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Schools team for cross country last year.
