Campus - a haven in Hillcrest
Located in KwaZulu-Natal near Hillcrest, overlooking the Valley of 1000 Hills, the 40 acre property aptly forms the shape of a Zulu shield and performs a similar function - to protect and equip tomorrow's leaders - the youth of South Africa. The entrance gate and driveway are lined by a striking row of trees which form the 'gate of opportunity'.
The campus currently includes 3 foster care homes, offices, the iThemba Academy, chapel and picturesque grounds. The vision is to build further homes along with additional educational and recreational facilities.
The property is easily accessible by road and is approximately 8 kilometers from Hillcrest itself. It is strategically placed, being adjacent to the large rural Embo community marked by unemployment, poverty and the effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The campus has immense potential in terms of development, landscaping and expansion which will broaden the impact of the organisation. Plans of development to reflect the 'Window into Africa' concept will encompass indigenous flora, a nursery, wellness centre and additional facilities are on the cards.
There are currently two homes located off-campus in nearby estates and it is planned that additional homes will also be built at these sites.
