iThemba Academy

Situated on a unique site with breathtaking views of the Valley of 1000 Hills our innovative Foundation Phase school, the iThemba Academy, offers exceptional schooling for girls and boys from Grade 0 to Grade 3.

Orphaned and vulnerable children from the broader Valley of 1000 Hills Community, as well as our foster children, are offered fundamental early years education. This independent school, staffed by dedicated educators, aims to ensure that the potential of each child is nurtured. Our teaching body realises the uniqueness of every child and focuses on enhancing and celebrating the individual, thereby inspiring independent thought and creative expression.

Children are taught in bright, friendly classrooms receiving personalised attention to stimulate young minds. With the care of loving teachers in small classes, time is set aside to focus on each child to grow his or her confidence and leadership skills. The development of a sound character and healthy values in children are a priority of the iThemba Academy, thereby providing a strong foundation for life.

Unique to the iThemba Academy is a multilevel academic strategy which caters for children of mixed ability, allowing each child to advance at his or her own pace in a structured, yet creative environment.

Located on 48 spectacular acres, surrounded by indigenous flora and fauna, the iThemba Academy embraces its distinctive position and offers the best of the outdoors. The iThemba Academy is officially registered by the KZN Department of Education; the EMIS number is 490028.

BURSARIES/SCHOLARSHIPS & TEACHER’S SALARY

The iThemba Academy aims to nurture dynamic leaders of tomorrow by offering a world-class education to the iThemba children and those for whom we can raise bursaries/scholarships for from the impoverished local community. The Academy specialises in bridging educational gaps which have resulted from a lack of stimulation and very challenging circumstances.

Important fundraising goals are:

  • To obtain bursaries/scholarships for 55 children who demonstrate potential to attend the school. We now seek individual donors and corporates to please help us reach our goal to obtain further funding for children to attend the school for the 2012 academic year. Fees are R9 950 per year per child.
(Those eligible for a tax certificate would effectively pay 72% of the total cost –
R7 164 per year or R597 per month)

  • We aim to fund a teacher’s salary at R150 000 per annum.

BBBEE verification and tax certificates will be provided to donors. Please contact Nadine Wright on +27 31 766 8300 or email nadine.wright@focusonithemba.org to join our challenge or to view our beautiful campus.
