iThemba Academy

“Learning is something that occurs our entire life during all of our waking hours.”

Charlotte Mason
19th Century educator

Situated on a unique site with breathtaking views of the Valley of 1000 Hills our innovative primary school, the iThemba Academy, offers exceptional schooling to girls and boys from Grade 00 to Grade 7.

This independent Christian school aims to ensure that the potential of each child is nurtured to its full. Our teaching body realises the uniqueness of every child and focuses on enhancing and celebrating the individual, thereby inspiring independent thought and creative expression. Children are taught in bright, friendly classrooms receiving personalised attention to stimulate young minds. With the care of loving teachers in small classes, time is set aside to focus on each child to grow his or her confidence and leadership skills. The development of a sound character and healthy values in children are a priority of the iThemba Academy, thereby providing a strong foundation for life.

Fostering a holistic deep rooted love of learning is the educational intention of the teachers, supported by integration and acceptance. Through the combination of top class teacher interaction, technology and a wide offering of extra-curricular activities, children at various academic levels will have the opportunity to share and celebrate their individual strengths.

Unique to the iThemba Academy is a multilevel academic strategy which caters for children of mixed ability, allowing each child to advance at his or her own pace in a structured, yet creative environment.

Located on 40 spectacular acres, surrounded by indigenous flora and fauna, the iThemba Academy embraces its distinctive position and offers the best of the outdoors. Interacting directly with nature, in the company of friends and teachers, children will learn to appreciate the environment and responsible citizenship. Partnerships with leading schools in the community allow the children access to additional top sports facilities and cultural opportunities.

We warmly invite you to visit us and view the iThemba Academy and our beautiful campus first hand. Please contact us on (031) 716 3339 or email admin@ithembaacademy.org for more information.

iTHEMBA ACADEMY BURSARIES/SCHOLARSHIPS

An important fundraising goal for the iThemba Academy is to obtain bursaries/scholarships for 20 children from the Embo community to attend the school over 5 years, from 2010 to 2014. The cost per child is R22 320 per year. Children will be selected who are: restricted in their current school, able to embrace the opportunity, demonstrate potential and have parents who are willing to invest energy into their education. We challenge supporters to match donations to accelerate the process.

Waterfall College moves to iThemba campus

Co-educational senior school Waterfall College will open their doors on the iThemba campus in April 2010. It was always the vision of iThemba to partner with a senior school and this collaboration aligns perfectly with our thinking. Waterfall College is a dynamic independent school offering quality education to 71 learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. The iThemba campus is essentially a place of hope where future leaders thrive and an ideal hub for education to flourish.

The senior school will occupy classrooms adjacent to the iThemba Academy and this unveils a spectrum of opportunities for both schools. It will be a natural progression that learners from the Academy feed to the College for their high school years. It also allows the two schools to collaborate and share resources and strengths.
