| MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN | ||||||

iThemba Academy was initially born
to meet the educational needs of our iThemba children, closing gaps in their education, so that they could confidently enter high school level at Grade 8 level.
We noticed gaps were more apparent in
Mathematics and English.
After trying extra lessons and private
tuition we felt the only way to move forward
was by having a specialised school where we could close these educational gaps. Now that the Academy is on track in terms of its facilities and potential, the need to open its doors to more children including those from the Embo community became evident. It is our goal to raise funds so that bursaries can be provided to enable at least 20 children to attend iThemba Academy over a five year period.Key focus areas of the Academy are to transform the educational experience for the children making it possible to |
achieve success in English and Mathematics as
well as the other learning areas, whilst ensuring that they grow in their confidence and love of learning. Children from Grade R (kindergarten)
to Grade 7 benefit from individual
teaching and care within an environment
where they feel challenged, respected
and accountable.
The vision for the Academy has a significant
focus on healthy sociological integration
and it is our hope that by 2015
there will be 300 learners enrolled.
We are focusing our energy to achieve
this goal, as we realise the power of quality
education in changing young lives for
the better. |
