Our Fledglings

The relationship continues at iThemba from their time in the homes, through to tertiary training, working life, marriage, becoming parents and beyond.

 

The children blossom into young adults and live independently but still have a close bond with their iThemba families. These aspirant leaders are true examples of the relevance and success of the iThemba concept.

 

Peaceful

With a natural calling to work within the community Peaceful is reading towards a Social Work degree through Unisa. She has worked as an auxiliary social worker in order to gain practical experience. She is currently completing her last year of academic study and is working for Durban Children’s Society.

Promise

Promise completed Grade 12 in 2007. She made her parents very proud as she was selected as Deputy Head Girl at Waterfall College. She earned respect from peers and teachers during the year through her strong leadership skills. As a semi-volunteer she gained valuable experience at a Travel Agency in 2008. She was subsequently offered a full-time position at a Travel Agency in Durban North. She finds her job challenging yet stimulating. Promise is enjoying her work in the career of her choice. She recently got married in December 2011 and is thriving.

Ndudzo

Affectionately known as Ndu, he completed his Grade 10 level of education in 2008 and then pursued his career goal of becoming an electrician. He completed a six month training course in the electrical field at a Further Education and Training College before taking up a position with an electrical company. He displays strength of character and his employers have great respect for his strong work ethic. He has shown a true sense of commitment towards his younger siblings whom he supports and encourages.
