A journey of unearthing potential

Celebrating small victories! In 2020, our team celebrate the growth of our life-changing iThemba Scholars Programme as it enters its fourth year of supporting highly capable boys and girls, who from our partnering ECD centres, have been awarded donor-funded scholarships to attend Waterfall Schools. Since its inception in 2016, where 4 boys and girls entered the programme, we now have the privilege of seeing 12 little lives being changed. With the addition of two new scholars every year, the programme aims to support learners from Grade 000 to Matric, an amazing 15 years of educational investment!

Brad Cooper, Principal at Waterfall Preparatory School shares, \”We believe that we are supporting the #GrowingHeartsandMinds vision and \’Unearthing The Treasure\’ in these children to provide them with a chance to change their and their family\’s future.\” With further praise Cooper comments, \”These children are a blessing to the school in many ways, perhaps most significantly in their humble approach to life, yet determined to grab a hold of the opportunity afforded them.\”

Currently our 12 scholars range from Grades 000 to 6, where 4 are receiving the benefit of a full-day schooling experience at Waterfall Pre-Primary, while the remaining 8 enjoy the pleasures of \’big school\’ at Waterfall Preparatory.

Paula Mason, who has been Principal of Waterfall Pre-Primary School for a remarkable 8 years, says, \”The iThemba Scholars Programme is an amazing initiative that has a massive impact on the lives of young children. Starting from ECD level, it\’s the first step in a child\’s educational journey and sets a great foundation for learning.\”

We have been greatly moved by how warmly the programme has been embraced by the trio of schools and are looking forward to harbouring the lasting fruit of this symbiotic relationship. If you feel moved to support this life-changing programme, please be in touch.
