At Focus on iThemba, we are committed to responsibly stewarding the opportunities and resources entrusted to us to serve and strengthen the communities around us.
Since 2015, we have helped develop safe, purposeful learning environments that nurture each child’s God-given potential. These spaces give children room to play, learn and grow, while offering families the continuity and convenience of a complete educational pathway.
Waterfall Schools in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, and Forest Edge Schools in Knysna, Western Cape, bring this commitment to life.
Focus on iThemba and Waterfall Schools: Promoting Sustainability in Education
For more than 20 years, the iThemba Campus has been a place of hope. Over the past decade, it has evolved into a thriving educational hub known as Waterfall Schools.
Waterfall Schools is a private, co-educational values-based school where the learning experience is underpinned by a commitment to maintaining healthy relationships between children, teachers and parents, as well as with God and nature. Comprising of Waterfall Pre-Primary, Waterfall Preparatory and Waterfall College, the school provides a place of connection for children from 12 months to Grade 12.
As co-habitants of the Campus, Waterfall Schools play an integral role in supporting our pursuit of long-term sustainability as a non-profit organisation. This model is funded on a mutual exchange of value: the school benefits from the use of campus facilities, while its growth and occupation contribute to the sustainability of our organisation. This, in turn, enables us to direct donor funding towards advancing our various programmes.
A new chapter of hope in Knysna
Over the past two years, we have had the privilege of applying this same philosophy in Knysna through the development of Forest Edge Schools. Forest Edge is an affordable, private school rooted in Christan values, committed to fostering an environment of love, respect and belonging. Through Queen Bee Pre-Primary, Forest Edge Preparatory and Forest Edge College, quality education is being provided to children from 12 months to Grade 8, with plans to expand to Grade 9 next year.
Focus on iThemba has supported the development of Forest Edge Schools through facilitating infrastructure upgrades that create an environment conducive to quality, age-appropriate education. As the school continue sto grow, it is becoming a thriving centre of learning and opportunity for the Knysna community.
