On the 4th of April, Focus on iThemba gathered with our donors, friends, and community members to celebrate the commencement of our expansion project at Project Delight. This milestone event highlights the profound impact of collaborative partnerships in uplifting Early Childhood Development (ECD) in our community.
Project Delight, owned by principal Buyi Ngongoma, has been a partner of ours since 2012 through our iThemba Educare Programme. Through this enduring collaboration, Project Delight has evolved from humble beginnings to a nurturing environment catering to 106 children aged 3 months to 6 years. As the School commemorates its 30th founding anniversary, it stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and community support.
Under the visionary leadership of Buyi Ngongoma, Project Delight has emerged as a beacon of excellence in early childhood education. The School\’s commitment to providing a high-quality learning experience has earned it widespread acclaim, and its ever-growing waiting list is the reason for this structural transformation project. The project will allow for two additional classrooms, an office, storage, ablutions and an extended play area.
During a poignant \’turning of the soil\’ ceremony, founder Elizabeth Ngongoma joined the gathering, symbolising the continuation of a legacy built on dedication and service to future generations. The event underscored the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose driving this expansion project. Buyi Ngongoma was filled with emotion, she shared “This new addition to my school will be life changing. It comes in the year that our School celebrates our 30th Founding Anniversary which is truly amazing! Thank you for making this possible.”
Ms. Ngongoma\’s vision for the School\’s growth, coupled with the generosity of our donors and our ongoing support, ensures that this Pre-School will continue to nurture young minds and foster a brighter future for our community. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Victor Daitz Foundation Foundation for being the catalyst for making this project possible, together with the generous support of (listed in alphabetical order): Kerry Ingredients, Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education, The Fulton Trust, Thompsons Meats, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions (Pty) Ltd.
