“We can already hear the beautiful sound of happy children and staff emanating from the buildings!\” No words can better describe the progress of the build at Project Star than these shared by Focus on iThemba\’s Donor Relations Assistant, Shelley Barron. \”The building team have worked so thoroughly over the last two months to ensure that we keep as close to schedule as possible and we are so delighted to see the structure of a beautiful new school starting to take shape!\”
Inkanyezi Pre-School, otherwise referred to as Project Star, is Focus on iThemba\’s 4th Pre-School to undergo radical transformation. Together with a group of donors and partners, the NPO helps to reshape the future of the school by transforming their facilities from poor or inadequate structures to bright and beautiful spaces that are conducive to quality learning and teaching and comply with Department regulations.
After breaking ground in November 2020, Project Star now has 5 containers on site which comprise of 2 classrooms, kitchen, toilet, admin and storage units. Other structural components like the walkway and playground areas have been fitted and the installation of plumbing and water waste system has received engineering approval! Within the the next two weeks, the JOJO tank, roof, floor, fence and artificial grass will be installed, after which the classrooms will be kitted out with educational materials. The team anticipates finishing phase 1 of the Project towards the end of March.
Sharing her excitement about the progress of the build, Principal Cynthia Cibane said, \”I am really so excited! Every day parents of the children attending my school pass by the area and message me about how they cannot wait to see their children learn in this new school. They cannot believe how beautiful it looks and are excitedly waiting for the doors to open!\”
